In the United States, Confirmation is the second of the three Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism being the first and Communion the third). Confirmation is regarded as the perfection of Baptism, because, as the introduction to the Rite of Confirmation states: by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit.
The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit are wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude (or courage), knowledge, piety(reverence), and fear of the Lord(wonder and awe).
The sacrament of confirmation does not give you the gifts of the Holy Spirit but “confirms” the gifts already dwelling within you. "They complete and perfect the virtues of those who receive them." (CCC 1831) Though the grace of Holy Spirit you can recognize and share those gifts with others.
Come, join other adults who are making a conscience choice to learn about and celebrate this sacrament.
The process here at St. Jude consists of six interactive evening sessions (or more) and a retreat.
