Minutes of monthly meeting held at 7pm

On Wednesday, January 2, 2008

Present:                Don Cairns (Chairman), Fr. Dave Rogerson (Pastor),  Bob Johnson, John La Fond, Gary Smith, Matt  Oakland and Lauren Sing

Opening Prayer:   The meeting began at 7.05pm by Fr Dave with a prayer, a reading from the Gospel and a brief  reflection.

Christmas

Liturgies:              Mainly positive. Both 4.30pm masses were packed to overflowing.

Some concern was voiced about parking in Fire Lanes during masses.

Parish Comments:        

Why was the practice of introducing the family bringing up the Offertory stopped?

The Mission statement should be led by lector and not PC member.

Practice of using broken bread in distribution was to be evaluated at next Sacristan meeting.

Vision Statement:           It was decided to drop the process of formulating a vision statement, and at a later stage to discuss the goals as identified by staff members.

Parish Projects:              A list of proposed / dreamed projects was presented to the meeting.

Each item was briefly discussed and rated in order of priority. A few items needed further investigation as to exactly what was proposed. Some projects would involve a capital funds drive to finance.

Habitat for Humanity:            St Jude Parish not only assists financially, but parishioners help will actual building as well. A house-warming was being held in the near future and St Jude parish was invited. Members/owners of homes built by Habitat for Humanity were being invited to address us at masses over the third weekend of January.

Goal Setting:       This item would be placed on our next agenda.
