The meeting began @ 7:08pm with individual check –in, and an opening prayer.

Pastor’s Report:

¨      Fr. Joey was able to attend the 6:30 pm Christmas Eve. Mass. He was allowed a six day visit by his doctor. Fr. Joey looks better, his color has improved & he is losing weight.  No actual date as to when he’ll be able to return to St. Jude’s Parish.

¨      New Mass schedule has been started, no new complaints or comments.

¨      Outdoor Sculpture: The sculpture of Jesus with the children was put in place just before Christmas. Ted Baxstrom placed a spotlight on it. Donations have allowed for extra funds to be used for cleaning & repair work when needed. Discussion was held on a possible date in January for a blessing/dedication of the statue.

¨      Staff Changes: There are two vacancies to fill for both Nancy Pisconski, who leaves the end of January, & Denise Pyles, who has already left the staff. Fr. Dave will ask Deacon Carl Smith of Holy Innocents in Duvall to join the staff in a ¾ time position to fill Denise’s position as  liturgist & replace Nancy in the RCIA program. The council recommended that he come in on a temporary basis initially and then be considered for permanent status after 3 months. He comes highly recommended by other St. Jude & Holy Innocent staff. Denise will continue on with directing the Gospel choir. The Pastoral Associate position Nancy is vacating will be advertised in the Progress this spring. Existing parish staff and Deacon Carl will fill in that position in the meantime.

Staff Report:

¨      Nancy handed out the staff reports for review. Confirmation will be held Thursday, February 2nd, 2006.

¨      Input from the Pastoral Council on general pastoral priorities or new direction to be taken is needed to be turned in to the parish office by February 15, 2006, if it impacts staff programs & budget planning for 2006 – 2007.

¨      Pastoral Council minutes will be e-mailed to all council members within two days of the council meeting for approval before being forwarded on to Ruth Ashburn & Franz Rau (web site assistant) for posting onto St. Jude’s web site.

Old Business:

¨      Mission Statement work: Discussion was held on which options to choose from Pat Buckley’s (Archdiocesan staff person) recommendations; given during her presentation to the council in November. A work team will be established to work with Pat Buckley. Recommendations for a diverse work team, consisting of 5 – 9 were made.  Initial phone calls will be made by the Pastoral Council chairperson to request individual’s interest & confirm their e-mail address for further correspondence from Fr. Dave. Follow up phone calls will then be made. The goal is to have seven parishioners and one or two Pastoral Council members on the work team.

 New Business:

Don Cairns distributed the Pastoral Council Work Plan for 2006. The plan was reviewed, changes & actions were discussed. Current Pastoral Council Work Plan:

¨      Mission Statement Work – an inclusive process to clarify the mission, vision, values, and identity of St. Jude Parish.

¨      Pulse of the Parish” – solicit feedback from parishioners about Parish life and issues.

¨      Woodinville Catholic School – what is the appropriate relationship between St. Jude and the proposed new school?

Action Plan:

¨      Don make phone calls & Fr. Dave e-mail  prospective  Mission Team members.

¨      Debbie & Don get P.C. minutes to Franz  in 1 week to post on website.

¨      Include “Pulse of the Parish” on meeting agenda

¨      Fr. Dave will contact Anusha to create a committee to explore and recommend a level of involvement for St. Jude in a new Catholic school at the Woodinville parish.

The Pastoral Council recognized Nancy Pisconski, & showed their appreciation for all her years on the staff at St. Jude’s by presenting her with a cake, & sharing  memories & best wishes for her.

The meeting was adjourned with a closing prayer at 9:05 pm. The next meeting will be held Wednesday,  February 1, 2006.

Respectfully submitted, Debbie McCormick
