St. Jude Pastoral Council

Meeting Minutes

Wednesday December 7, 2005

6:00PM – 9:00 PM

The  meeting was called to order with a prayer led by Don Cairns, after which he welcomed our guests from the parish staff; Jerry Kuntz, Patty Fitzsimmons, Ruth Ashburn, & Kelly Wimsatt. Pastoral Council members present included Nancy Pisconski, Don Cairns, Debbie McCormick, Lauren Sing, Anusha Fernando, Gary Smith, & Fr. Dave Rogerson,

 Absent: Bob Clancy, Suzanne Henderson, & Tim Thompson.

Old Business:

¨      Don Cairns gave a brief overview of what we are trying to accomplish in our Mission Statement work for the parish staff in attendance. Everyone was invited to share a word or two that came to mind when asked to describe St. Jude’s parish, or what they’d like to see for the parish. These are the responses: inclusive, hospitality, increased ownership, building community, connectedness, sense of belonging, unconditional acceptance, I belong, increased depth of spirituality, all valuable to the family unit.

Pastor’s Report:

¨      Fr. Dave reported that he currently has 16 names of strong candidates for the Mission Statement Team.

¨       We were also informed that Fr. Joey finally is no longer battling infection, & swelling is down in his legs.  However he has not been cleared by his physician to return to work, & will only be allowed a visit to family over the holidays. This was very difficult news for Fr. Joey.

¨      The base for the outdoor statue of Jesus with the children has arrived stateside & just might arrive to St. Jude’s in time for Christmas.

¨      Nancy Pisconski is retiring from her position at St. Jude’s & moving to Florida.  We currently have no candidates for her position. However Mark Guzman will assist with the RCIA program in Nancy’s absence.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
