St. Jude Pastoral Council

Meeting Minutes

Wednesday June 28, 2006

Participants: Don Cairns (Chair), Fr. Dave Rogerson (Pastor), Lauren Sing, Debbie McCormick, Suzanne Henderson, Gary Smith.

Absent: Anusha Fernando, Bob Stephens, Bob Johnson

The meeting began @ 7:15 p.m. with an opening prayer led by Don Cairns, followed by a brief check in of all present.

Old Business:

¨      Woodinville School: Nothing new to report on the prospect of a Catholic school in Woodinville. The council will revisit this topic quarterly.

¨      “Mission Work”: The Pastoral Council & Mission committee members will be focused on this project of updating the mission, vision, and core values of the parish beginning in September, and the goal of completing it before summer of 2007.

¨      Parish” kitchen shower: Fr. Dave will check with Mary K. Moore to see if we still want to hold it, or come up with another alternative for replacing items. Some ministries have, and lock up their own supplies. The challenge comes when non-regular groups use the kitchen and do not have their own supplies and item get taken from other areas, and are not replaced.

Pastors Report:

¨      Tent City Follow-up: A few parishioners are continuing to discuss hosting Tent City in the future.  Fr. Dave has had no contact from the media regarding future hosting plans. Fr. Dave and the council members discussed the information meeting process and agreed it was a very good, and positive experience for the parish. Fr. stated he was very encouraged by the response of over 100 parishioners offering  their name  and phone number to help St. Jude with any Tent City planning.

¨      Staffing: No applicants yet to replace Kelly Wimsatt”s position as Jr. High Youth Leader.  We may need to look at an associate position, in order to fill it. The 11:00 am choir may have some candidates to apply for the choir director position to fill Denise Pyles’  vacancy

¨      Three new beautiful rock holy water fonts have been donated by a parish family, as a bequest from a parishioner that passed away. One large rock font for the narthex, and two smaller fonts; one for each side entrance have been installed in church.

¨      Council members shared thoughts on the “pulse of the parish”.

 New Business:

·   Election of Pastoral Council officers will take place at the September meeting.

·   The proposed 2006-2007 Pastoral Council Work Plan was reviewed. Members present volunteered to chair or work with other groups in the parish, the remaining areas needing a volunteer chair-person, or a liaison will be filled at the September meeting when all Pastoral Council members are present.

Action Plan:

¨      Fr. Dave will follow-up with Mary K. Moore regarding the “Kitchen Shower”.

¨      Gary Smith will be the Pastoral Council liaison to the St. Jude Tent City committee

¨      Debbie McCormick will be the liaison to the Stewardship Council for Parish Ministry Days

¨      Lauren Sing will be the liaison to the Finance Committee

Completed work items from 2005-2006 were reviewed.

The meeting was adjourned with a closing prayer at 9:00 pm. The next meeting will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2006.

Respectfully submitted, Debbie McCormick
