STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL MISSION:  To serve as a vehicle for parish members to fulfill St. Jude parish mission through scripture based, Christ centered stewardship.

PURPOSE:  To foster and facilitate greater participation in Stewardship at St. Jude Parish, calling on all parishioners to give to the Lord of themselves (time and talent) – that tends to produce their strong financial support (treasure).

ADVISORY ONLY:  Advises pastor on issues of stewardship.

MEMBERSHIP:  Five to seven members plus one staff member appointed by the pastor, and a representative from both the Pastoral Council and Finance Council; three year terms; consensus appointed chair serves for one year with an appointed vice chair.  The vice chair becomes the chair in the subsequent year. The initial Stewardship Council appointed membership will consist of two and three year terms. The term of any members may be altered by the decision of the pastor. 

MEETING FREQUENCY:  The Stewardship Council is envisioned as an active in all forms of stewardship within the parish.  As such, the Council requires a commitment of time and talent for all members including but not limited to monthly meetings.  Minutes will be taken at each meeting and approved minutes posted on the parish website and in written form in the narthex of the church and parish office.

DECISION MAKING:  All internal Council decisions should be made by membership consensus.  

 

GOALS:

   1) All parishioners engaged in the work of the parish.

            Education:

                        *  Volunteerism is an expectation of membership in our parish.              

            Organization:

                   *  Revitalize Commitment Sunday        

                   *  Facilitate year-round recruitment of volunteers

   Quantify and report parishioner trends annually

    2) Increase parish support of charitable organizations.

 Education:

            *  Bring alive the needs of the parish, community, and world.

 Organization:

            *  Oversee the Social Concerns Committee that will develop and operate procedures to evaluate requests for charitable assistance.

    3)     Increase participation in Financial Stewardship.

         Education:

                   *  Develop successful programs to educate and inform members about Parish programs and tithing and the need to increase parish resources to fulfill this need.

               Organization:

                        *   Facilitate two major giving campaigns:

1.      Parish Sacrificial Giving

2.      Annual Catholic Appeal
